Synopsis

Kyoto, 1985. Beneath a city bracing for a summer of violence, a covert unit known only as Squad37 moves through fronts and safehouses, hunting a conflict the public will never be told about. Its members are young, strange, and dangerously gifted — espers whose powers should not exist, bound together under a commander who hears every thought in the room. As the Yamada Zaibatsu and rival factions tighten their grip on Japan, the squad must decide which orders to obey and which to refuse. Restrained, atmospheric, and steeped in retro-anime style, this 21-minute film is the 1985 prelude to the story that becomes After Summer a decade later — the first thread in a war of secrets, loyalty, and memory.
